Best Food at the Florida Strawberry Festival is always something to talk about around this time of year. Although it’s much smaller than the Florida State Fair, the Strawberry festival will never disappoint in the food department. So, let’s get into some of the popular food stands there that you must try if you get a chance to go this year.
Best Food at the Florida Strawberry Festival: Smitty’s Original Buttermilk Corndogs
First up on the list is Smitty’s which is famous for their original hand dipped buttermilk corndogs. I purposefully made this place first because if you want to try them out, then this place needs to be you’re first stop. Why you ask? Because this is probably going to be the longest line in the festival that you stand in so you might as well knock it out first. Although there is 2 Smitty booths in the festival, they are both going to have equally long wait times I’m talking max 30 minutes. It doesn’t matter if you go on a weekday or weekend Smitty’s will ALWAYS have a line. But the big question, is it really worth the wait?
All I can say about that is if you walk around the festival and see the lines for other corndog stands versus Smitty’s you’ll certainly have your answer. Personally, it’s totally worth the wait to me because it’s made fresh and hasn’t just been sitting for hours making it stale. These corndogs are the real deal, and I guarantee you won’t find another within the festival that can even compete.
Best Food at the Florida Strawberry Festival: Fiske French Fries
Now once you make your way through the Smitty line for your corndog lets head on over to get some fries to go with it. Fiske fries are so delicious there are about 3 of them throughout the festival. The best part about these fries is you get to spray them with malt vinegar and season them yourself with different seasonings like Ranch, Cajun, and regular seasoning. These are a must have for me every year I attend the festival.
Peachey’s Baking Company
Ok let’s go ahead and jump right into some of my favorite dessert stands that I have to get. First up is Peachey’s Baking Company known for their delicious donuts. These donuts are absolutely delicious and literally melt in your mouth. They are not airy and full of icing like a Krispy Kreme type of donut, it is truly doughy with homemade glaze.
Peachey’s is definitely a must have dessert at the festival. The lines aren’t too long, and they also have two of them within the festival. I typically just get a plain donut, but this time I was feeling adventurous and decided to go with the Sweetheart dessert which was a glazed donut with hot fudge, fresh strawberries and whip cream. It was super sweet so next time I will stick with the regular donut, but it was still very good.
Strawberry Cookies
Last but certainly not least, make sure you take some strawberry cookies home. I love this booth they are located under the stadium, and they have some sweet little old ladies serving some of the best strawberry cookies I’ve ever had. If you are looking for a good dessert that will carry home well and eat the next day, these cookies are definitely it. Make sure you check them out as well as the other food booths mentioned above if you plan on attending the Strawberry Festival this year.
