Hidden Gem Breakfast Spots are always on my radar no matter what city I visit. But it’s even better when you find one in your hometown. Breakfast is one of my favorite meals of the day and I’m always on the hunt for something new. When I stumbled upon this restaurant, I was more than pleasantly surprised with the food so let’s get into it.
Hidden Gem Breakfast Spots: Himes Breakfast House

Himes Breakfast House is a great breakfast location in the South Tampa area. If you enjoy that southern styled country breakfast, then this is the spot for you. It’s hard to find country style breakfast here in Tampa, especially when the newer restaurants that serve breakfast or brunch lean more towards bougee entrees. Nothing will ever stand against a good old country styled breakfast.

For my breakfast, I had the blueberry French toast, which was on brioche bread, blueberry compote with powdered sugar served w/ their house made blueberry poppy maple syrup. This dish was absolutely divine, the French toast literally melted in my mouth and the blueberry maple syrup was perfection so rich sweet and delicious. I paired it with some scrambled eggs, loaded grits and a side of crispy pork belly. The eggs were normal nothing too extravagant and the grits were good I would give them a 7/10. But the Pork Belly was what stole the show. It was savory, crispy and absolutely delicious definitely a 10/10.

The crunch cakes were really good however, they are served with an espresso bean maple syrup. Now if you’re not a coffee drinker the syrup may not be to your liking. It’s a very strong syrup I mean after all it is espresso, but you can always substitute it for regular syrup, and it is still delicious. I would rate this dish an 8/10. The banana foster was amazing. The pancakes are rich and moist with combination of rum, banana, cinnamon and vanilla. The pancakes literally melt in your mouth with every bite, this dish was a 10/10.
This hidden gem breakfast spot is definitely one for the books. Like I mentioned before whether you live in Tampa or visiting, please make sure you check out this spot. I promise it will not disappoint. Let me know in the comments below if you will be visiting this spot, or if you’ve been I’d like to hear your thoughts either way.
